Hot air balloon flights take place very early in the morning, to avoid the wiind created by the air heating up when the sun rises. The sun rises earlier in summer than in winter, meaning that in winter you can sleep an hour later! (a 6am flight is just that bit easier to get to than a 5am flight!).
