The night life in South America is not to be missed! Although most of the touristy areas are generally safe during the day, bar for some pick pockets and the occasional scam, extra safety measures should be taken when you are heading out after dark. Always make arrangements with a taxi service before heading out, the last thing you want is to be caught in an empty alley after dark. It also doesn't hurt to make frequent back-ups of your photos.
