Travel With Some of the Best Airlines | SKYTRAX 2016

The recent Skytrax World Airline Awards 2016 named and recognised some of the best airlines across the world in various categories, including the prestigious World's Best Airline. Below you'll find the three airlines you'll want to travel with this year!

Once again Emirates walked away with top honours, receiving high scores for their staff and in-flight entertainment. In second position is Qatar Airlines followed by Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific in fourth and fith positions respectively. Other popular airlines rounding out the top ten includes Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, Qantas and Lufthansa. These airlines have all received the traveller stamp of approval!

Our very own South African Airways has secured the 41st spot in the international list for World's Best Airline and was crowned the Best Airline in Africa. Other notables that rounded out the top ten include Kulula, Mango, Ethiopian Airlines, Air Mauritius and Kenya Airways.

If it is budget travelling you're after, you can't go wrong with Kulula which also took home the prize as the Best Low-Cost Airline in Africa. Other low-cost favourites Mango and Fastjet took second and third place, respectively.

We're always incredibly proud of our local airlines and their achievements. We hope to see even more South African airlines make the list next year as we truly believe you can't go wrong with one of our proudly local carriers.

"Overall the flight was pretty pleasant. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I was quite distracted by the TV screen. Sparse dotting of lights in the desert below provided extra distraction as my imagination ran wild (Is that a village? A hideout for Aladdin and the thieves? What kind of people live here in the middle of nowhere?). We didn’t experience much turbulence and the landing was smooth. After my (first) two flights with Emirates, I think I would fly with Emirates again." -
