Lanseria & Cape Town Flight Price Comparison

As FlySafair started operating flights between Lanseria and Cape Town yesterday, we thought it might be fun to do a price comparison to find the cheapest airline on the route.

In order for this to be a fair comparison, we decided to compare prices directly from the airlines' websites and included the R150 online charge for checked baggage in FlySafair's price. We also decided to compare the cheapest available throughout the whole month versus the cheapest available on a busy travel date (the 9th of August 2016).

Both Mango and kulula also offer flights between Lanseria and Cape Town, so we will be a doing a price comparison on the three airlines. Of course our findings might not always be the case, but it could make it easier to find the cheapest flight on specific dates.

kulula Lanseria - Cape Town R864*

We can confirm that no single airline will always offer the cheapest flights, but in our case study FlySafair and kulula offered the most affordable fares. It is worth noting that the price difference between the cheapest and most expensive flights was marginal, so travellers might still choose to support their favourite airline.

Mango has since announced, according to News24, that they will award vouchers to all FlySafair Lanseria passengers equavalent to the fee charged for checked baggage (up to R250). This can be used on future Mango fligts. FlySafair passengers will have to present their receipts for luggage charges incurred to someone at the Mango desk when departing from Lanseria to Cape Town during the month of August in order to receive their voucher.

"I have been booking flights every second weekend from Lanseria to CT for the last 6 months… Only ONCE was the Mango flight late – and that was due to some person leaving their bag on the previous flight and for obvious security reasons the police were called which caused the flight to be delayed. IN FACT the last 4 flights have actually landed in Cape Town between 20 and 35 minutes early!!!!" Suzanne Pittaway
